One of Hong Kong’s most illustrious business names creates UK-based charity, inspired to improve the lives of Hong Kong citizens starting new lives in Britain
LONDON, September 20, 2021 / PRNewswire / – One of the most distinguished names in Hong Kong, esteemed entrepreneur and philanthropist, Mr. Guillaume I, embarked on a quest to help many of these 5.4 million eligible people Hong Kong citizens seeking to relocate and establish their residence in the UK.
Well named ‘The Hong Kong People’s Association ‘ the initiative is generously formed in the name of the people, for the people. As a British resident, William understands firsthand the apprehensions and obstacles in setting up a new life abroad.
William has acquired over 30 years of experience in corporate restructuring; Mergers and Acquisitions ; privatization of the IPO; private equity and hedge fund investments on the continent China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan before establishing himself as the founder and CEO of a global fund management company with multi-billion dollar assets under management. Prior to founding the fund management company, William was previously President of Equity Capital Markets for Macquarie Banking Group, where he managed its Greater China capital markets and main investment activities for over 10 years.

It is the result of a new system introduced on 31 January 2021, under which British citizens of Hong Kong (Overseas) (“BNO”) and their immediate family members can apply to live, work and study in the United Kingdom for five years. After five years of residence, they will be eligible to apply for permanent residence and an additional year in the UK will see them eligible to apply for UK citizenship. “

William himself is gone Hong Kong and is now permanently based in London. Graduated from the University of Wales and Manchester Business School (UK) with an MBA, William is a member of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants as well as the Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Accountants.

William was the chairman of the Hong Kong Youth Association – the largest youth charity in Hong Kong. He also founded the Youth Innovation and Development Alliance to promote innovation and career development for young people in this region. An inaugural event of the association will take place at September 2021 in Ealing, West London, and the charity’s official launch will be followed closely thereafter in October 2021.
